In this connection, two systems from the GEA SilentComfort range that went into series production in 2007 are especially worthy of note: the GEA SiCo floor convector SBQ, and its sister model the GEA SiCo induction convector SBI. Both of these models “disappear” upon installation under raised floors and are therefore exceptionally well suited for modern architecture with large-area glass façades. They are available with superior-quality cover grating in the following selection of finishes: natural aluminium; anodized finishes in brass, bronze, or black; as well as stainless steel (further options are available upon request).
The SBQ unit (photo) with its cross-flow fan enables energy-efficient and comfortable heating and cooling of such facilities as offices, museums, sales rooms, and public buildings. Despite its 230-volt power feed, these systems are extremely safe owing to end-to-end 24-volt engineering. This characteristic – plus exploitation of the Coandă effect for no-draft air circulation – make the SBQ convector unit absolutely unique.
With its identical exterior dimensions, the GEA SiCo floor convector SBI ideally complements the SBQ recirculated-air unit. The SBI convector is an induction unit that is installed near the building façade, under raised floors, and that is connected to a central ventilation plant. In such a configuration, however, it is not only the primary air flow that is used for heating or cooling. On the induction principle, the primary air upon output pulls secondary air out of the room after it, and this secondary air is supplied into the room together with the primary air. The secondary air flows through a heat exchanger before it mixes with the primary air, and rises up along the façade.
Combinations of the SBQ and SBI models allow meeting the requirements posed by various room-occupancy densities and supply-air requirements. These possibilities offer planning specialists the liberty of providing great heating and cooling capacities, as well as energy-efficient air exchange in the rooms served. An additional plus factor of this equipment: they are highly suitable for dry cooling, which contributes to especially hygienic operation.
